I think, my blog has become a fairly good collection of my thoughts & opinions on politics & Philosophy. Although it is not my intention to limit myself to these 2 topics alone, over the last 8 months or so, it has become such. Having said that, it is certainly not my intention to circumscribe my thoughts / ideas to just these 2 topics. As I have mentioned in my "about me", I am a free soul...limitless...boundariless...eternal...& a devoted student of "LIFE" in all its totality. So, everything that is a creative expression of life, is my interest. Politics & Philosophy are but 2 of the infinite creative expressions of life. So, it will be my endeavor from now on, to pen my thoughts & ideas on other facets of life...of course, politics & Philosophy included, but not repeating at such regular frequency.
Sports is something I love very much. I was a district level badminton player during my school & represented my school in tournaments. I was an active & pretty good galli cricket player. We used to play lot of cricket on the street adjoining our house, quite often ending up breaking window panes of a few homes & getting royal treatment from neighbours for our services. When Deepavali came, we had our own "creative" ways of burning crackers. 2 of those incidents I'll narrate here. During one of the Deepavali, we placed the rocket horizontally on the street & lit it. At the same time, it so happened that someone came walking from the opposite end, wearing a dhoti. The rocket took off @ full throttle & even as we were watching, it entered the dhoti of the man. The man took a few moments to realize what was happening. Then, suddenly, he took off his dhoti & began running. While he did this, we guys took to our heels & came back home only after a couple of hours fearing the worst consequences awaiting us @ home. Thankfully, nothing of that sort happened. Poor fellow he must have cursed us badly & left, thinking of us to be some indisciplined, spoilt, street brats. We looked for his burnt dhoti, but did not find it. We thought he must have worn the dhoti again & left, cursing us all the way.
The 2nd incident also has got to do with lighting rocket during Deepavali. This time though, it was a different story. There was this pretty girl a couple of houses away from ours. Every time I used to notice her, butterflies used to fly in my heart...U know, how it is with teenage crushes. There were very few instances when I ever spoke to her, though. Nevertheless, it was teenage crush & it was Deepavali. So, I went to the terrace of our house, placed the rocket horizontally, aimed the rocket @ the rear window of her house & lit it. I least expected the rocket to enter her house thru' the window. For me, it was just fun. Any way, as I lit the rocket, the rear door of her house opened & out came her granny. I was shocked at the consequence that could unfold. But, it was a little too late for me to rewind the wheel of time & my actions. So, I stood there waiting for the consequence to unfold. In the meanwhile, the rocket zoomed & entered her house passing the granny on it's way (granny was busy drying some clothes), thru' the rear door & burst with a big bang. Everyone inside the house came out running shocked, amazed, angry, & fuming, all at the same time, & I could not make out which of the reactions they were. For me, all of them seemed the same. The moment the rocket burst, I had already taken flight from the spot & hiding myself. I could hear loud noises coming out of her house. I struggled hard to recognize her voice, but didn't. Mostly it was elders & granny who was cursing the younger generation for indiscipline & monkeying. The next day, my mom narrated the incident to me & said that we should close all doors & windows during Deepavali because she had no trust on the younger generation's actions. You can't be sure when, which rocket will enter the house from where & burst, right? Hearing that, I thought she must have heard similar comments from my crush's granny, & passing the same to me.
So, those were 2 memorable experiences from my teens. Look forward to recollect some more & write on them. In the meanwhile, let me start organizing my thoughts around some of the experiences & observations in my everyday life & pen them down...Until my next piece of blog, it's BFN...
